We met Eastbury Comprehensive School students on a sunny and pretty warm Wednesday morning in March for another Healthy Chinese Cuisine Ambassadors cookery demonstration. All the students were extremely curious and eager to learn how to cook "Kung Pao Chicken". After Ming-Ai's and Lee Kum Kee's presentation on Chinese cuisine and sauces, it was the turn of our chef tutor, Cynthia.
Students paid extreme attention to Cynthia's demonstration. They asked questions about cutting techniques, how to use wok properly and how to mix sauces. Then the students started preparing their own dish. They demonstrated a high level of competence in mastering the techniques Cynthia showed them, they managed to marinate the chicken perfectly and cooked in a professional manner!
Feedback from students: "I liked the cooking part because get to make and taste authentic and healthy Chinese food"; "Learning about the origin of Oyster sauce and its usage was really interesting!".
Feedback from the teacher: "A very useful session with plenty of helpful advices for students and information about the regional cuisines in China and ingredients used. Also, great for students going to uni to help them cook for themselves."
