The Healthy Chinese Cuisine Ambassadors project went on a school cooking demonstration to Hackney City Academy. At the school visit chef Jason Li demonstrated how to make
Black Bean Chicken
(click the link to find the recipe), a recipe focused around Lee Kum Kee's Black Bean sauce and a mix of Chicken and pepper. All the students, following the instructions of Jason were able to participate and did a fantastic job, showing great potential in cooking healthy Chinese cuisine.
The student who were already familiar with Chinese food and cooking methods were able to further their knowledge of the cuisine with presentations from Ming-Ai giving a brief introduction to Chinese food and Lee Kum Kee who took the students through the cooking process. Feedback from the students stated: "I really liked it" and "I learned new things about Chinese food."
The demonstration gave students the chance to learn from a professional Chinese chef, with one student stating. "I really liked the encouragement we got when cooking".
The visit to Hackney was the first school visit in the second phase of the Ambasadors project. If you would like to apply for your own free school visit in London email us at
